Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to store information about your preferences and activity. They help websites remember your settings and provide a better experience on subsequent visits.
In addition to traditional cookies, websites may also use browser localStorage and sessionStorage to store data locally on your device. These technologies serve similar purposes but differ in how long data is retained and how it is accessed.
This policy covers all client-side storage technologies used by VeraCita, including cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential (Always Active)
These items are strictly necessary for the website to function correctly. They cannot be disabled. We use localStorage (not traditional cookies) for essential preferences:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
vc_cookie_consent |
localStorage | Stores your cookie consent preferences so we do not ask you repeatedly | No automatic expiry; cleared when you clear browser data |
vc_industry |
localStorage | Stores your selected industry view (e.g., finance, legal, academic) to personalize the interface | No automatic expiry; cleared when you clear browser data |
These items do not collect personal data and are not shared with any third party. They exist solely on your device to remember your preferences.
2.2 Analytics (Optional)
The cookie banner lets you record an analytics preference, and that choice is saved on your device. However, VeraCita does not currently deploy any analytics tools of any kind. No analytics scripts, tags, or trackers are loaded on this website today, regardless of the preference you set. The banner stores your consent decision (in the vc_cookie_consent localStorage item) so that we can honour it the moment analytics is introduced.
If we activate analytics in the future, this page will be updated first — naming the provider, the data it collects, and the retention period — before any analytics tool is enabled. Analytics would then run only for visitors who have given consent.
| Provider | Status | Purpose | Data Collected |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plausible Analytics | Not currently deployed (candidate for future use) | Privacy-focused, cookieless website analytics | None at present — nothing is collected because no analytics is running |
You can set or change your analytics preference at any time using the cookie settings in the footer of our website. Your preference is stored in the vc_cookie_consent localStorage item.
2.3 Marketing Cookies
We do not use any marketing cookies, advertising trackers, or retargeting pixels. VeraCita does not sell, share, or monetize your browsing data. We do not participate in any advertising networks or data exchanges.
2.4 Third-Party Cookies
Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies when you interact with their features:
- Stripe: May set cookies during the payment process for fraud prevention and session management. These are strictly functional and are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: May set session cookies for authentication purposes when you log in to your account.
- Google Fonts: Loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log standard web request data (IP address) but does not set tracking cookies through font delivery.
3. How to Manage Your Preferences
You have full control over cookies and local storage on our website:
3.1 Cookie Banner
When you first visit VeraCita, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can choose to accept only essential storage or also enable analytics. Your choice is saved and the banner will not appear again unless you clear your browser data or change your preferences.
3.2 Cookie Settings
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the website footer. This reopens the consent dialog where you can update your choices.
3.3 Browser Controls
You can also manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
To clear localStorage specifically, you can use your browser's developer tools (usually accessible via F12) and navigate to the Application or Storage tab.
Please note that disabling essential storage items may prevent certain website features from working correctly, such as remembering your industry preference.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our use of cookies and storage technologies evolves. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the cookie consent banner or website notification.
